Our coaching standard

UEFA-Licensed GK Coaches.
German DFB Framework.

Every TM17pro goalkeeper coach holds an official UEFA coaching license and a German Goalkeeper Coach License — a rigorous DFB-certified qualification covering every technical and tactical aspect of the modern goalkeeper position.

We work exclusively with coaches who have professional playing experience as goalkeepers combined with formal coaching education. That combination — lived experience at the top level plus structured methodology — is what separates TM17pro goalkeeper sessions from anything else available in Northern Virginia.

Why this matters for your goalkeeper
Most goalkeeper coaches either played the position or studied coaching theory. Our coaches have done both — at the professional level. They can show your keeper exactly what a professional goalkeeper does under pressure, and then explain the technical reason behind it.

Training curriculum

The Five Pillars of Modern Goalkeeping

Based on the German DFB goalkeeper development framework. Every session addresses multiple pillars simultaneously — because the modern game demands a complete goalkeeper.

🧤
01 — Clean Handling & Shot-Stopping

Correct hand positioning, body shape, and catching technique under match pressure. Diving mechanics, footwork patterns, and reaction training built through high-rep repetition.

02 — Distribution with Both Feet

The modern goalkeeper is the first outfield player. Short and long distribution, goal kicks under pressure, and playing through the press. Build-up involvement and sweeper-keeper positioning.

🧠
03 — Tactical Awareness & Zoning

Our signature Zoning Method teaches keepers to manage and command specific zones within the penalty area, position proactively based on patterns of play, and react decisively under pressure.

💪
04 — Mental Toughness & Resilience

We train concentration, composure after mistakes, focus under fatigue, and the mental habits of professional keepers — drawn from how top-level goalkeepers are developed in European academies.

🗣️
05 — Leadership & On-Field Communication

The goalkeeper sees the whole pitch. We train keepers to lead — organizing the defensive line, calling for the ball, directing set pieces, and communicating under pressure. This is the skill that separates good goalkeepers from great ones, and it’s rarely trained anywhere else in Northern Virginia.

Signature methodology

The Zoning Method —
Our Goalkeeper Framework

Most goalkeeper training focuses on reactions — catch this, dive there. The Zoning Method goes further: it teaches keepers to control the game proactively rather than just respond to it.

Based on the European professional academy approach, it divides the penalty area into zones that the goalkeeper owns, reads, and manages.

Proactive positioning — keepers learn where to be before the shot, not after
Pattern recognition — reading dangerous situations from play patterns
Decisive action — fast, committed responses under match pressure
Zone ownership — commanding the penalty area with authority and presence

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

All ages and levels are welcome — from players new to the goalkeeper position all the way up to keepers preparing for club tryouts, high school play, or college recruitment.
Goalkeeping development requires high repetition and individual correction. With 4–6 players maximum, the coach can watch every single touch, correct technique in real time, and make sure every keeper gets enough ball contact to actually improve in each session.
No. If your player is curious about the goalkeeper position — or has just been asked to play in goal by their club — this is the ideal starting point. We start from the fundamentals and build from there.
Goalkeeper gloves, cleats, and a water bottle. Padded goalkeeper shorts are recommended but not required. Training balls are provided. If your player doesn’t yet have goalkeeper gloves, bring shin guards and regular cleats — that’s fine for the first session.
24-hour cancellation policy. Cancelled more than 24 hours in advance receives a full refund. Cancelled within 24 hours, a credit is held for any future session.
Absolutely — and we recommend it. Goalkeepers who also train outfield develop better footwork, spatial awareness, and passing ability. Our additional outfield training sessions are the perfect complement to goalkeeper-specific work.
